Research interests:
My research interests encompass investigating surface and crustal response to regional and large-scale geodynamic processes with insights from 2-D and 3-D quantitative geological and geophysical modeling. The research compares and contrasts numerical predictions against wide range of geological, geophysical and petrological interpretations in order to develop clearer understanding of geodynamic mechanisms for plateau uplifts, rift basin formations and oroclinal bending of the mountain belts. The broad goal of my research is to provide new insight into how mantle dynamics drives surface tectonics and illuminate the processes responsible for active tectonic environments along mediterranean orogenic regions (e.g Anatolia, Carpathian-Pannonian, Betic-Rif arc and Alboran regions).
My current research project funded by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) career grant investigates lithospheric thinning mechanisms under the western and eastern Anatolia regions by using geodynamic modeling where model results are tested against large datasets of observations.
